We supply the construction industry with the essential materials needed to build the places where we live and work, play and in-between.
We use our core assets to produce valued-added downstream products, pulling through our aggregates and cement to be used in the production of ready-mixed concrete and asphalt, and the provision of surfacing solutions.
What we do
We provide essential products and services to the construction supply chain.
We are supplying structurally-attractive end-markets
We supply essential materials to attractive end-markets, such as infrastructure and housebuilding, which benefit from long-term structural growth trends.
Great Britain
In Great Britain we operate an extensive footprint of quarries and downstream operations, extending from Hampshire to the Hebrides.
Our vertically-integrated downstream operations are asset-backed by substantial mineral reserves and resources and supported by an extensive road and rail haulage infrastructure to deliver our mineral reserves and resources to our customers sustainably.
Our Great Britain surfacing operations are strategically located in England and Scotland, serving our national, local and airport customers efficiently and sustainably.
Ireland
Our network of quarries and plants across the island of Ireland, support a highly regarded surfacing business and are well positioned to serve infrastructure projects across Ireland.Â
Our Ireland surfacing and contracting activities benefit from multi-year frameworks and term contracts, delivering high-profile projects including airports and major trunk road resurfacing.
United StatesÂ
Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, our vertically-integrated US business is well-positioned to benefit from construction growth in the Mid-West.
We operate a concentrated network of quarries, ready-mixed concrete and asphalt plants throughout Missouri, Texas and Arkansas, including multi-state surfacing operations, focusing on road infrastructure end markets.
Cement
Our cement division operates two well-invested plants in Great Britain and Ireland, capable of producing more than two million tonnes of cement annually.
Our Hope cement plant in Derbyshire is recognised as the UK’s largest and Kinnegad, near Dublin, is the most modern plant in Ireland, achieving average fossil fuel replacement of 81 per cent.
Both our plants operate at world-class levels of kiln reliability, exceeding 94 per cent uptime due to our diligent monitoring and proactive approach to planned maintenance.
