Shildon AFC Kicks off construction with the help of Express Minimix

Shildon AFC, a local football club with deep community roots, has officially begun work on its brand-new 3G football pitches – a project set to benefit players, schools, and residents across the area for years to come.

The state-of-the-art synthetic pitches will provide an all-weather playing surface, allowing the club to host training sessions, matches, and community events all year round.

As part of the project, Express Minimix will be supplying concrete for the construction phase, helping bring the ambitious plans to life.

Martin Baker, Transport Planner at Express Minimix, said:

“We’re delighted to support Shildon AFC with this exciting development. The club is a fantastic example of how sport can bring a community together, and these new facilities will have a huge positive impact for the local area.”

David Dent, chairman of Shildon AFC, said:

“This is a game changer both for Shildon AFC and the community. With funding approved and planning permission in place, it’s all now a reality and we can start detailed planning for the future. We can now achieve our ambitions of being a thriving community club, offering football and other sporting opportunities to everyone. We’ve worked closely with the community to understand its needs, and this new facility addresses many of them, from providing an enhanced playing surface to offering wider opportunities to use the club’s other facilities. Securing the Football Foundation funding is a massive achievement, and we’re excited to begin work in June.”
